Our Programs & Services

The Salvation Army's Hilo Temple Corps Community Center serves the people of Hawaii residing on the eastern side of the Big Island of Hawai'i. In addition to Hilo Corps' function as a church, it provides emergency assistance to families needing help including food, emergency services and clothing vouchers. It also provides seasonal assistance to families for their special needs during the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the essential back-to-school needs of children. The Hilo Temple Corps offers character building programs, christian education, community recreation programs, day care, music & arts programs, women ministries, and worship services.

Three times a week, the Hilo Temple Corps, in partnership with local civic volunteer groups, serves hundreds of homeless and needy individuals a nutritious, hot meal through its Soup Kitchen. The Hilo and Kona Salvation Army Corps also provide a full range of outreach, prevention and residential services for youths at risk through its Family Intervention Services.
